words that tell us about something that happened often or that was true in the past:
- She used to smoke when she was young.
- I used to be afraid of dogs, but now I like them.
To form questions we use did with use to: Did she use to smoke when she was young? We form negatives with didn’t use to: I didn’t use to like fish, but I do now.
